Principal’s Message: Violence in Atlanta

Viking Family,

I am saddened and horrified by the mass killings in Atlanta yesterday where a domestic terrorist shot and killed 8 people, 6 of whom were Asian.

While current news reports are not exactly reporting this as an act of racism, we know that shameful and despicable acts of anti-Asian violence have been on the rise over the last year in our country.   The fear and terror felt by our Asian and Pacific Islander communities needs to be acknowledged and we are reminded of just how much work we need to do as a country to be more accepting and inclusive.

As a school community, our thoughts and prayers are with the people who have lost their lives and their loved ones at this time.  Please be assured that acts of racism and xenophobia are not tolerated at our school and we remain committed to supporting diversity and inclusivity.  In the days ahead, if you need to speak to someone, please contact your counselor for support or the Philly Hope Line by calling or texting 833-PHL-HOPE (833-745-4673).

Sincerely,

Principal Crowder
