Principal Announcement: Returning Freshmen
Viking Family,
All first-time 9th-grade students (repeat 9th graders are not included) and students in grades 10-12 with complex needs should have received an email with a weblink to indicate your intention to return to school under our hybrid model of instruction. Please note that students with complex needs in grades 10-12 only include those students in our Life Skills Program and our MDS Program.
The link was sent to both parents and students, so to be clear, only those students who are eligible to return for hybrid instruction were sent the link. If you have not received a link for your student, you are encouraged to check your Spam/Junk Mail folders.
Once we receive confirmation that your student will be returning for hybrid instruction, we will be contacting students directly to inform them of their schedule. Beginning May 10, all 9th grade students who do not have complex needs will receive in-person instruction either on Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday. The school building will be closed on Wednesdays for deep cleaning and all students will have asynchronous learning each Wednesday.
All students with complex needs will attend school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The school day will continue to be held from 7:42 AM-2:46 PM, if your student’s schedule differs from this, you will be notified in advance.
For those students who receive virtual instruction and are not participating in hybrid instruction, your school day will continue to be from 7:42 AM-2:46 PM.
Please be advised that our asynchronous Fridays will be moved to Wednesdays beginning on May 12.
Please note that students are required to wear their masks at all times while in the building, failure to comply with this policy may lead students to be returned to full-time virtual instruction.
All students attending in-person instruction will be required to undergo routine COVID-19 testing, authorization forms will be provided to students prior to their first day of in-person instruction.
All students participating in in-person instruction will be required to wear our school uniform which consists of a white button up shirt and tan/khaki bottoms, both of which must be appropriate for school. If you need assistance with obtaining the uniform, please contact the school at 215-400-3200.
SEPTA Trans Passes will be provided for those students who qualify. Please visit our website nehs.philasd.org for the most up-to-date information.
Best,
Mr. Crowder
Principal
