Northeast School Advisory Council (SAC) 
The School Advisory Council (SAC) plays a vital role in shaping the educational environment and enhancing the school community. Composed of parents, teachers, and community members, the SAC collaborates to address school needs, develop improvement strategies, and support student success. The council meets regularly to discuss and review school policies, academic programs, and other key issues. We encourage interested individuals to participate and contribute their insights to help us create the best possible learning environment for our students.

What is the School Advisory Council?
NEHS School Advisory Council (SAC) is a collaborative team that works to improve student achievement, effective teaching in the classroom, and family and community engagement in the educational process.  SAC is a school-based volunteer group made up of students’ family members, school staff and community members. It is not solely a parent group, but it brings families, school staff, and community partners together to help our administrators and staff ensure that students have the resources and support they need to succeed.

SAC supports NEHS students by:

  • Discussing school challenges
  • Volunteering to support success and address challenges
  • Organizing and/or helping with school activities and events

 

What is the role of the School Advisory Committee?

SAC is responsible for the  final decision making in school planning.  SAc provides input in the implementation of the provisions of the annual School Improvement Plan (SIP).  It also  assists in the annual preparation and evaluation of both the SIP and the school’s annual budget (Title I funds).

SAC’s 3 Main Functions:

  • Support Academic Achievement
  • Improve School Climate
  • Strengthen Family and Community Engagement

 

What topics are typically covered in SAC?
Topics generally covered in SAC meetings include, but are not limited to:

  • Structure, Purpose, and Roles
  • Family Involvement
  • Needs Assessments
  • Data collection and analysis
  • School Climate Surveys
  • Review of the School Improvement Plan (SIP)
  • School Events

When are SAC meetings held?
NEHS SAC meetings will  be held the 2nd Thursday Bi-Monthly (locations and times of meetings: TBD)
